I custom-built my desktop PC with one of the components being a Seagate Hybrid Drive ST2000DX001 (SSHD). Currently, 1.81/1.81 TB are occupied and I only have ~4 GB left available. What would be the best course of action? I am considering the following options:

  • ■ Purchase a new SSD to supplement my current SSHD.
    ■ Purchase a new SSD (greater than 2 TB) to replace my current SSHD.
    ■ Purchase both a new SSD and a new HDD to replace my current SSHD.
Are all the above options viable ones? What are the pros and cons of each option?

Thank you very much in advance.

At the space ou need, the most reasonable answer is a conventional HDD. For bulk storage, and that is what greater than 2TB is about, conventional HDD is the best answer. Move your audio, video and photo archives to the new HDD. Potentially move downloaded game files also. That should free up plenty of space on your current drive.

IF you were smart enough when you built the PC and partitioned the 2TB disk into C: and D: then you may be able to easily move your C: to an SSD.
Otherwise it is more difficult to move and a fresh OS install is the simplest way to add an SSD.
