How is this Wifi card?

I am currently awaiting parts for a new pc build. The computer i have now is prebuilt with a build it wifi adapter so i am looking into a cost effective solution to a wifi adapter.
I am looking at this card,any thoughts?

I get like 7-8 Mbps downloading things on steam now so idk if this is as good or better. I run 802.11n.

I was also looking into this as something more fancy but didnt know if it was worth it?

Your router is a dual band N600 series router, so that restricts the speeds to about the level of that first card. But even so I'd probably recommend the second card you picked out. While your router only provides wireless connectivity to N series adapters, the Gigabyte card will give you the ability to position the antenna for better coverage. Also should you upgrade your router to a modern AC series model, you'd be ready for it.

One thing I'll mention as well. You might want to look in to Ethernet over Powerline adapters. They cost more, but you'll generally get better speeds, lower latency and less connectivity issues than wireless.

Well you download speed on steam shouldn't be restricted by your wifi adapter as it should be plenty fast. The only way to know if your adaptor is restricting your downloads is to know what speed you are getting from your internet service provider. Remember that 1 MB(Mega Byte) is equal to 8 Mb(Mega Bit). Steam shows speeds as Mega Byte and your internet service provider shows your connection speed as Mega Bit. So 7-8 MBps on Steam is equal to your ISO saying your connection speed is 49-64 Mbps.

so if i was to upgrade my router what should i expect for speeds compared to my router now with that gigabyte and the ac router with the gigabyte?

AC provides better coverage and much faster internal speeds. But for internet, provided everything is working properly, the N series stuff should be already providing the most your ISP is giving to you. The one big advantage that AC card would give you over the N series cards is it's ability to position the antenna where it gets the best signal. That may do more for giving you better connection/speed than anything else.

If your internal speeds are not where you want them, or your trying to get better coverage, then an AC router and AC card would make sense to upgrade to.
