should I be afraid to overclock? I'm using a i5 7600k asus maximus 8 hero motherboard corsair h60 liquid cpu cooler. I just don't want to fry my system it was expensive to build.

You can do quite a lot overclocking with water cooler

Just do it slowly, unlocked CPU is designed to overclock. As long as you keep a safe temperature, like 80 Celcius when under load, you are fine

what voltage do you think I should set the i5 7600k at if I set the cpu to 4.7ghz that's where id like to start at. and probably leave it.

Try this table, starting from 1.17v, 4.8GHz

5GHz 4.9GHz 4.8GHz Default
1.28V 1.21V 1.17V 1.168V
