Took a part my r9 290 to clean it due to high temps in the 90s and to repaste. When I took it a part I was careful with pulling the connector off but I guess the wire was already loose/short. How do I fix this? I'm not very intelligent with this kind of things can't find a answer anywhere else either. https://i.imgur.com/bLw1q8U.jpg

Have you tried contacting the company? If you keen to change the cooler then you can go with the Arctic cooler one's posted above or go with the NZXT Kraken G12 and couple it with any Water cooler you like.

Just try to clean it up with a clip and push it back into the connector with the help of a small plier or clip. Don not solder it or the connector might melt(since it s made of plastics). Subsequently, you may just watch some Youtube videos to solve it or bring it to the nearest hardware shop, they can solve it in 30 seconds with no payment.

what type of store do you suggest like actual names.

We don't live where you live. Every local has it's own PC repair shops. Any one of them should be able to help you. Look in the phone book under PC repair or PC service. Some staples and best buys have limited tech teams but they will charge you more as they will want a profit and then probably have send it to some smaller shop for you.

What he was saying above, you can clean off some of the plastic coating on the wire, use nail cutters or small wire strippers if you have some. Then twist the wires so they aren't loose and insert it back into the plug.

If you're really ambitious:

Use a toothpick to remove the metal tooth (I don't know if that's the right term, but I'm going with it) from inside the plastic connector
Very carefully remove the broken wire from the tooth
Then strip down some insulation on the unbroken wire and reattach to the tooth. It probably just clamps down with pressure instead of soldering it.
Reinsert tooth back into the plastic connector.

Exactly, ast stated by bjornl, we dont live where you live and most of the time every PC shop can help you out with that for free or a little payment. It should be fine even if you want to do it yourself, one single wire is not that hard and confusing its just a stick and a hole. Good luck!

Went to multiple repair shops all said they can't help me and that i would need a new connector entirely and I have experience with solder or ideas mentioned above so no clue what to do

Strange, well then ask for a price quote to replace the entire connector. The parts are very very cheap; so the cost is their expertise to do it for you.

That's really unfortunate. Most of the shop in my place are more than happy to fix it. Maybe not in your place. Anyway, the best way right now is to contact the GPU manufacturer. I assume it to be Sapphire. Try contacting them via Facebook or Email and ask for the best solution and where can you send it to their authorised repair center closest to you. I'm sure they will provide you some ideas or repair center closest to you. Good luck.
