Hi I'm trying to make a budget build for my little brother for Christmas and I'm trying to find a good gpu that's not too pricy. My original thought was yo get the 1050 ti but around that price there are radeon cards and even other older cards that give either the same or better performance for the same price or even less. For instance I found a gtx 780 on eBay for $120 and it does better than the gtx 1050ti in some games and the 1050ti is $150. I don't want to get him a monster of a gpu bc he doesn't play triple A titles on PC but I do want to get him something that's strong enough for 1080p high on all games at least.

I have issues with getting a the 780TI. As mentioned above, it's used. It was also a high end card when it came out and it came out during the height of the "baking" craze. Because it's older the odds are good it's been in an oven to try and bring it back. It's also an older card so its performance/watt ratio isn't as good as newer cards. You'll also need a bigger PSU to power it compared to newer cards. The 970 might be a bit slower, but it uses a lot less power. If you are reusing an old PSU or not getting the best one, it's important to look at power usage as well as performance.
dont go used on ebay if you can. a lot of those cheap old cards may have been oven fixed to work. you want go with 1050ti it play the newest microsft game engine. the older cards cant do the newest engine some can only do version 9x. and cant go any higher.
