Hi guys...
I'm looking to upgrade my ram, but the specs on my mobo's website are a bit confusing.... It says my motherboard takes ddr3 @ 2133(oc)/1866(oc)/1600/1333/1066....... What do the two (oc) references mean? In short, can I buy two 2133mhz or 2400mhz sticks of ram to replace my 1 stick, and just plug them in and get 2133mhz?
Mobo is asrock z68 extreme4 gen3 if that helps... thanks.

Solution
The CPU contains the memory controller. A Celeron G460 supports DDR3-1066MHz while 2133MHz may be appropriate for an OC on a "K" CPU with an unlocked multiplier such as the i5-3570K.

So you are saying I should buy 2133mhz ram which will automatically underclock to 1600mhz when I plug it in.... I can then change ram setting in the oc'ing tool in bios, and it will run at the 2133mhz speed....... (If I read your reply correctly, I don't even have to manually oc the ram, there should be an xmp profile in the bios to run 2133mhz?)

In short, yes you are right. But it wont "underclock" to 1600mhz. 1600mhz is the native frequency. The RAM has just been test to work at 2133mhz. So when you insert the RAM it will run at 1600. Then you will need to activate the XMP profile (which is overclock) and it will run the RAM at 2133.
