I installed win10 on the 31st successfully, made user customizations, rebooted machine, ran disk clean, cleaned system files as well (to remove windows.old) rebooted, computer is now showing a disk error everytime I try to boot, no amount of CMD magic has revealed or corrected the issue, windows is also showing as booting from X: instead of C:, checked drives in BIOS, they are in the correct boot order, and are all showing.

i7-2600k
16GB RAM
EVGA GTX1050TI
P67AC43_B3 (latest drivers and BIOS)

what do?

IF the disk drive is visible in the BIOS, but there is no Operting System found on the disk...

The Win10 licence for that machine is with microsoft if you let the machine have access to the internet. If you do not care about your data then do a fresh, clean win10 install, and be VERY careful what tools you use ".. ran disk clean, cleaned system files as well .." This loses your data, but gives you clean, stable win10.

There is a chance that you can do a repair install of win10 and keep your data. Google it.

IF the disk drive is not visible in the BIOS......

remove and re-insert the power cable int eh drive. Remove and re-seat both ends of the sata cable. See if the drive is now visible.
If not check how old the drive is, see if it is still under warranty. If you can't get the drive visible to the BIOS then the drive is dead.

yeah, i cleaned the system files because I no longer thought I needed the Win7 files... I could not repair the install, i have all drives showing in BIOS, i have all drives showing in diskpart (list disk, list partition are both showing the same) I thought it was a SATA/Power issue at first, but alas it is not... I re-imaged the machine, but unfortunately I have not picked up a valid license yet (it was connected to the internet on the 31st when i upgraded initially)

Glad you got things working again.

Except for a few handicapped cases I think the free upgrade from win7 to 10 is expired, so you don't get one for free on the upgrade. If you had a valid win 10 before you had to reimage I think windows will find and validate it eventually, or you should call windows support and explain.

Yeah, the assistive tech link is still active until the 31st of Dec. So I used that, and did indeed have a valid license (because I piggy backed off of my win 7 pro license)

good news now is that Win 10 is slower than hell (installed on an SSD) if i open up settings it freezes, open up edge (to try and navigate to the chrome download page) it freezes... going to re-image it again... damnit

Bummer re slow and freezes.

Before (or after) you re-image let it sit for a day powered on rebooting occasionally so it can apply fixes. Win 10 has a lot of stuff in the background doing setup and optimization and has a ton of new drivers to replace the original win10 ones. Once set up win10 should be as fast or faster than win7, certainly should not hang.

good Idea, I guess I will leave it on over night tonight and see what happens tomorrow... I'M MISSING MY PUBG FIX!

hopefully allowing it some time to apply fixes will help work the issues out...

I have also read horror stories about Nvidia GPU drivers causing this slowness... if that is the case then it will just be unacceptable... if it does become usable my next task will be re-installing all of the drivers, because right now I can't even navigate through edge
