Hi, I'm looking forward to buying a psu and i'm rather conflicted about these two.
The Seasonic s12ii costs at $62
The Corsair CX550M costs $79
Which one should I get? I heard that seasonic is quite and old model, is it still good for 2017
I know things in my country can get really expensive due to shipping cost and import tax

Solution
I didn't realize they were using a DC to DC design in the CXM. In that case it's a no brainer for me. Get the Corsair. $17 will be money well spent.

Edit:

I heard that seasonic does not supported c6/c7 state.

That's the not supporting Haswell that others were talking about. Less important to me as I don't use sleep/suspend.

I wouldn't use JG scores as a measure of quality. He has some odd quirks in the scoring that prevents PSU from being really ranked on quality. For example, a full "point" comes off if the PSU isn't full modular. That means if the better PSU has hard wired cables, it will be ranked lower than a lower quality PSU that has modular cables. He has other similar issues. While I agree with his testing and use the site, I would never say X PSU is better than Y because X's score is higher. He simply scores too oddly for me to do that.

Which CXM is it? If it's the newer grey label model that should be fine. If it's the older green label one I'd get the Seasonic.

Edit: Another issue is one I saw when I finally clicked on your links. The seasonic is so old that your review comes from 2010. He used a MASSIVELY different score system back then. That unit would be scored MUCH lower if he used todays system.

550W CX suggests that it is the grey label. The old green labels was in 430W, 500W and 600W.

like I said, grey label. Still though, cxm is $17 more. Is it worth it?

For $17? Yes. You move up in quality and 80+ ranking.

I was in another thread where the OP lived in Peru. To go from an 80+ bronze like the Seasonic to a Gold unit like the CXM, he had to spend nearly twice as much. $60 something to $110 something going from memory. In that case, totally not worth it. It's a better unit, but not twice as good. In this case you aren't adding too much more to the bill, so assuming you can afford that $17 I'd move up.

Wait, the CXM is gold 80+? Last I checked it's bronze
Here's the shop that I buy(thai btw) http://computeandmore.com/productlist.php?id=6538

NO, it's Bronze.

The TX550M is Gold.

The CX is bronze yes. However it's still a better PSU than the Seasonic S12.

It's bronze and the Seasonic is a better buy for less money

Shoot, CS is gold, not CX. Harder choice now. $17 for just a newer design? Now it's a toss up. Either will work. Maybe get the one with the better warranty? I could see saving the money, but I could also see getting the newer design. Tougher call.

It doesn't have the updated protections and not Haswell certified.

Less money yes, but not a better PSU. Corsair CX uses a much newer design, not to mention the lack of OCP on the Seasonic.

Neither are bad PSU's, either will work, it's just the S12II is dated by today's standards.

Ok, looks like ther's some misunderstanding. Anyway, you said that the cxm has better quality, what does that mean? And is it quieter?

Nobody said better quality.

It just the CX550M is updated design with all the newest protections built in and it's Haswell certified.

What is this newest protection? Sorry if im been asking too much, choosing between the 2 has been tearing me apart..Probably harding than deciding between amd and nvidia
One is cheaper but older model
One is newer but more expensive model

If it's the choice between those two the CX550M would be the choice due to the newer technology and protections built in.
