topic: chkdsk detects hdd as RAW format, disk management detects HDD as NTFS with proper name and volumes, no files can be accessed (most of the files are not shown at all)

problem:
I wanted to copy stuff to my external harddrive, but all of a sudden most of the files cannot be shown anymore. I see the whole folder structure and only some files are still visible, but cannot be opened. For example i can *open* images, but they cant be displayed.

I searched for some time and tried to chek the disk using chkdsk in cmd, but i get the error that the partition is of the RAW format.
In the disk management part it is shown as NTFS format.
In the explorer the drive is still shown with its proper volumes (3,63 TB total, 234 GB left) and partition name. Most (if not all) solutions that i found concerning the RAW format were based on a 0 Byte partition but that is clearly not the case.

I dont really know what to write anymore, but maybe someone has an idea

update:
When running "Recuva" i get the message: "Failed to scan the following drives: E:: Unable to determine file system type"
