So i invited my friend over on the weekend and we decided to play PlanetSide 2. He has an asus laptop with a Gtx 960 and some kind of core i7 processor. I noticed that he was playing at a solid 60 fps while i was struggling to get 25. So i changed my graphics to exactly his and restarted the game but no luck. I have a desktop PC and i know i have a better GPU, but i was wondering if my amd-fx 6300 processor was bringing me down. If so, what processors would you suggest and if all possible, could it be an amd3+ processor. (The reasoning for this is because i just bought my motherboard a month ago and i dont want to change so soon.)

My Specs:
Motherboard: Asus 970 pro gaming/aura
Gpu: Gtx 970 Evga 4gb
Cpu: amd fx-6300 six core processor
Cpu Cooler: Deepcool MaelStrom 240t
RAM: 2x8gb DDR3 Team xtreem-Lv-2400
SSD: SanDisk SDSSDHP128G
HDD1: WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0
HDD2: WDC WD20EZRZ-00Z5HB0
PSU: CORSAIR CX Series CX650 650W ATX12V
OD: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C

Unless you are playing at resolutions greater than 1080p, it shouldn't be a problem. With that mobo and cpu cooler you should definitely consider overclocking it. I am getting 48FPS on GTA V very high settings on 1080p after overclocking my FX6300 to 4.4ghz coupled with RX470 4GB. Maybe Planetside 2 is a cpu intensive game too but after overclocking you will get double frame rates.

Your system should play Planetside 2 just fine. The FX line is old, but still very capable.

- Have you updated your drivers?

- Checked which programs are running in the background, perhaps draining resources?

- Have you done any software maintenance? (ie. clean-up temporary files)

- Malware clean-up?

Last, have you attempted overclocking yet? You have a nice AIO watercooler, so you should have some good thermal headroom to OC your 6300.
