Hello all,
as title says, I am looking for a new GPU after selling my RX480 back in spring. Looking around, I am absolutely lost.
First of all, my specs :
-i7 7700k -16 GB DDR4 @ 2666 -ASUS Prime Z170-K -Corsair VS550
I am planning to game at 2560x1080 @ 75Hz (freesync)
GTX 1060 is out of the game for me because of no freesync. I was going for an RX580for 350€. I remember though that my previous RX480 was not handling perfectly my screen resolution and I had to tweak settings here and there. So I thought this time I can go a bit higher. It's kind out of my budget but I will survive. But then begins the pricing mess :

350€ for RX580
400€ for 1070 mini
450€ for 1070 full sized
500€ for Vega 56 Reference Design (Gigabyte)
550€ for 1070ti non reference (Gigabyte)
550€ - 600€ is already 1080 territory

(prices include tax)

The dream would be to find a Vega 56 with after market cooler because I could still use the freesync and I am planning to get a second monitor next year. But I have many concerns about ref card cooling and life expectancy, and there are no 3rd party options in the horizon. Also VEGA seems to be power hungry and I might need to change the PSU also.

I missed a Zotac 1070 mini on discount for a few hours and I am really pissed about it.
I would really appreciate some feedback and some opinions.

With a 75htz screen at those prices a 1070 (any 1070) makes then most sense.

Vega absolutely would require a new PSU mate , a very good 550 or a decent 650w - these cards can hit around 250w under boost clocks.

You'll 'get away' with your vs550 with a 1070 & the fact is with a 7700k & a 1070 you'll virtually never be below 75fps anyway.

You've always got fast-sync/adaptive sync to fall back on should this happen.
Its not as good as hardware based freesync obviously but it is there & it does work reasonably well.
