Hello everyone, my friend recently gave me his old GTX 970 and im going to sell it, I installed the 970 and plugged a hdmi into the gpu and i got a signal and everything was completely fine, i proceeded to update drivers for the gpu on geforce experience, however I did not test any games, I simply installed it and update drivers. Am I fine to sell this gpu?

I mean louder than normal. Used cards can cake up with dust. Or start failing. While it's up to the buyer to make sure they know what they are buying, it's up to the seller to make sure the parts still work correctly. If the fan is starting to fail and makes noise when it spins up because the card crossed 65C, then you need to know that.

A long time ago I sold a 4850 to someone. Blower style fan, single slot. I sold it to a guy who thought he could handle the noise, and told him he had my normal 7 day grace period to return. He got back to me after 3-4 days saying he was wrong, it was too loud. Yes it's up to the buyer, but you yourself should know the hardware as well.

Well ya I got a post on the monitor and got a picture from the gpu, and in geforce experience it said there was a gtx 970 installed so I should be good.

I would still fire up a game or two. Putting a load on the GPU will tell you more. Sometimes a fan will be fine at idle, but then turn into a screamer once the temps go up. Being able to warn people about a noisy fan would be nice. I've also seen people come here with issues with their cards once it gets hot. I'd fire up a game and make sure it's ok there as well. Or at the very least ask the friend if he had issues with it.

Well he played games on it and said it sounded a little bit loud under full load and got a little bit hot but under a demanding game like Ark i think almost all 970s will be a little bit loud and hot especially if not founders, it just hasnt been used in a few months, thats why I was asking as long as it posts and Its detected I should be fine to sell it. The buyers should be looking into what they buy and if they buy a card with a reputation of over heating or being loud, its their fault for buying it and not looking into anything else right?
