Hello! I recently bought a i7 8700K version with a motherboard from GIGABYTE Z370M D3H and 16 GB DDR4 2400 Mhz Cl15 from T-Force Vulcan Grey and this upgrade is from a i5 4570 ,8 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz, and ASUS H81M-E. So, everything went well, i got the new components, installed them, etc installed a copy of windows on it and then I wanted to play a short game of PUBG, i've started the game and in 5 minutes the pc just went blank on me, it was like a power shortage or something like that, the pc was starting itself and shutting down...it scared me so i've shut down the PSU, after that i've checked the system a bit and noticed that the PSU was almost burning, I thought to myself " A Psu MUST have a fan" so I started again the PC, it booted up okay, no problem, i checkd if there was any air flow to the PSU, and it wasn't , and it was hot like you could put some eggs there and have breakfast, I've entered PUBG again, and after 5 minutes it did the same thing, turned off, on,off,on. very quickly , I've turned it off from the PSU. After that i've taken out the cable from the socket to the psu, and tried again. When i've started my pc, a socket from my house was clicking very fast, i don't now how to describe the noise , but it was like almost ready to burn. I turned it off immediatly and waited a bit, and disconnected the cable, so for the last time i've connected the cable and I didnt even started the pc when i heard the same clicking noise from the socket, i got scared and turned it off ( i pressed the button to shut down the PSU) soo here I am, trying to understand what really happend... is the source uncapable to power a system like this? did the fan failed and the heat destroyed the psu immediatly? is my new cpu faulty...? The PSU is Chieftec APS 850 C I bought it in 2010. And if it's the PSU fault, could you guys recommend what to look after when buying such one? I've saw those two PSU in a shop and I don't know if they are that good... https://www.emag.ro/susa-keepout-900w-85-pfc-activ-14cm-modulara-fx900mu/pd/D02C4DBBM/

My first guess would be to replace the PSU - the Chieftecs are not very good and if it's getting burning hot, that's likely a stressed PSU. As for your new choice, that's not very good, either; you're focusing on high wattage rather than high quality, which is the exact opposite of what you want to be doing. While we would need to know your GPU to be sure, *this* would be a far better choice. And less expensive.

You certainly don't need 900W for any single GPU solution and if that PSU is actually 900W, what with just two PCI-E connectors, I'm the King of Siam.

I use a video card, it's a GTX 970, but I am planning to buy another one in late 2018 or early 2019. That what the guys at a shop recommended me to buy, I'll be honest I don't know very much PSU-us :/ . But why High wattage isn't good, I mean it 500W wiil be able to power the entire system ? :/

High wattage isn't bad, but low-quality high wattage PSUs are bad. I wouldn't trust advice from someone who recommends you getting a "900" W power supply that has only two PCI-E connectors.

Multi-GPU solutions are rarely a good idea, but if you must, then get a good 750W.

It's a bit more than you need, but nobody ever got into trouble buying a PSU that was too *excellent*. You've got a 10-year warranty on that and it may very well last well beyond that.
