Hey guys,

I'm not usually one to post on public forums as I almost usually always find the fix, however this problem has had me up for a few days and I cannot finish my university work without a working GPU.

I'm not a hardware friendly person so the specs I upload will just be of what I can seem to find.

The story ->

I bought a PC around 2 months ago and everything has been working fine ever since. About a month ago my screen froze up and pixelated with different colour squares forcing me to shutdown the computer and restart it from the wall. This only happened once prior to doing it again 2 days ago but this time upon restarting the computer it wouldn't load past login page as it was pixelated aswell.

I've literally scouted every single forum and post and tried almost every solution posted to fix this issue but cannot seem to narrow it down.

The things I've done ->

  • Reset the Cmos battery
    Tested the ram by taking 1 out at a time
    Removed the entire GPU and replaced it as well as reconnecting the 2x 6 pci pins.
    Checked GPU for obvious signs of damage (nothing, seems fine, fans spin and nothing excessive)
    Checked that all fans are working and air is circulating correctly
    Temp check @GPU for 35'
    Reformat windows
    Go into safe mode and use DDU to remove any old/existing drivers
    Download the latest driver from the official website
    Download various other drivers in forum posts
Unfortunately after doing all of that + probably a few other things the problem still occurs.

What is the problem? Upon installing a new graphics driver it will start to install and get mid way before my screen pixelates and freezes causing me to once again restart the computer. Thus not letting me use my GPU.

I'm not entirely sure whether my GPU is fried but I don't believe it is. The reason is because my current VGA cable is connected to the GPU rather than the on board connector meaning that it's still giving signal right? I'm pretty sure this is a driver issue but really not sure where to start as I've tried mroe than 10 drivers and this process is getting agonising.
