Hello!

I am looking at getting an SSD for gaming, but don't know which one, any suggestions?. Also, do you need any specific setup to install one?

Thanks for the help!

That depends.
Are you currently bumping up against that 8GB?

For an SSD?
250 or 500GB Samsung Evo or Crucial MX300.

But ideally, you want to put your OS and applications on it, and maybe a game or two, as size fits.

What size?
What budget?
What are the rest of the drives in the system?
What type SSD?

An SSD won't help gaming too much, but it will help your PC / Windows a lot. The SSD will let games load quicker, that's all, and you will need a big one to load all of your games.

For a Windows SSD, get a 250GB minimum. I had a 120GB and it was a pain to keep from filling it up. SATA 3 SSD's are fine for most uses. I got a super fast PCIe SSD and in the real world I can't tell the difference even though it is 4x faster than my SATA SSD.

I have the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB and a Crucial MX300 500GB and an Intel 750 PCIe 400GB. SSD brands don't matter too much as long as you get a decent warranty. But I will say that I like the software that comes with the Samsung SSD.

In your opinion would getting any SSD be better than upgrading my ram size?

For ram yes. A majority of the new games recommends having 16GB of ram, and I don't know how long 8GB will last in this era of games. Not that the games that recommended 16GB of ram are unplayable, I just notice a difference compared to games that require less.
