Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) ll x2 Processor 2.80 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB
GIGABYTE Motherboard 78LMT-S2

I want to upgrade my CPU :)
Just for Lol and Streaming
Any suggestions?

^ yes modern platforms use DDR 4 memory.

On a cheap basis the fx 6300 is a good choice for you, it can easily run a gtx 960/, has 4 more cores than your x2 & has single core speeds around 40% higher .

Its essentially around 4x as powerful .


I wouldn't recommend fx chips for new builds at all now but as a cheap upgrade option they're still a decent choice & a big big improvement over what you're running now.

Your board was produced & sold before the fx pile driver chips were released.

Therefore if its on a first revision bios it won't run one without being updated.

It can be updated easily , you will need a USB flash drive to do this.

Run it , in the main board tab let us know your board model & revision & the bios revision number.

It may be up to date enough to run a 6300 already.
