Hi Guys,

Really strange one this. I had an Asrock Extreme 3.0 motherboard which I swapped out for a Sabretooth R2.0 (second hand from ebay).

I replaced my old board with it, booted and everything worked fine straight out of the gate. No issues whatsoever!

But...

I've never been able to get my audio working! The only way that i can get sound is via bluetooth but that is not ideal and I want to just be able to plug a little speaker into the headphone port on my front panel and play sound.

I am pretty sure I have tried everything:

Reinstalled sound drivers
Took out and put the CMOS batter back in
Tried various settings in the HD Azalia option thing in the bios

It's like there is sound playing when not connected through bluetooth but it's not translating into actual sound output via headphones or portable speakers.

It can't be a software issue as bluetooth sound is working fine. I've tried plugging into the back panel via line out....nothing.....tried the headphone port on the top of my case.....nothing!

I set the bios to AC97 to test and I currently have 4 audio devices showing in device panel:

AMD High Definition Audio Device
MDR-ZX770BN Hands-Free (my bluetooth headphones)
MDR-ZX770BN Stereo (guessing the same again!)
Realtek High Definition Audio

Whether AC97 or I think the other option HD is set the outcome is the same....bluetooth fine...but all other audio is not.

The guy who sold me the board said he had no issues with it but he did use a sound card hence resetting bios, taking out CMOS battery which if I'm not mistakes should clear all that anyway.

One other piece of information is what is in my audio devices section:

I have made sure there are only two selected which are Realtek Digital Output & Realtek HDMI Output.

As it stands, I'm just getting bluetooth sound in my current configuration although i have tried every combination of audio devices that show and have tested them through bluetooth to make sure it's not me creating issues.

I'm usually pretty good at solving pc issues but this one has got me completely and utterly stumped!

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.

Many thanks!

M

Changing the motherboard often requires a Windows re-install to get it all working properly (even if it's Windows 10).

We always advise a Windows re-install here after a change of motherboard if problems are encountered - even if it's just the audio that doesn't work as you can be sure other problems will arise further down the road if you don't re-install.
