Using an E8400 on an LGA 775

I've found recently an old HP OA58H motherboard that still works so i decided to build a pc around it.

MB specs:
-socket LGA775
-DDR2 max 8GB
-chipset Intel Q965 Express

My question is: Can i use a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 3.0 GHz CPU on this motherboard?

So the CPU finaly arrived, i put in the socket reset the CMOS both by removing the battery and using the CMOS reset button. Al lights power up (on the MB and on the front and back panels), all the fans spin and it will stay like this forever without booting, the monitor is black. What could be the issue? and i did upgrade the BIOS Microcode too. When i put the old cpu back , all works like a charm.
