Can bent CPU socket pins ruin your CPU?

Good day, so I recently bought a used motherboard. I got it pretty cheap, so the bent cpu socket pins weren't much of a surprise really. However, after contacting the seller he claimed that the board still worked fine with the exception of 2 ram slots. As far as I can see, there's about 3 or 4 pins bent, and possibly one missing. I've also heard from my friend that not all cpu socket pins are in use and just there to fill up space or something, or perhaps has some function most people rarely utilize. I'm thinking of trying to bend the pins back, but in fear of perhaps making it worse than it already is I'd like to test and see how the board works now without doing anything.
Can testing a cpu in a socket with bent pins possibly ruin my cpu?¨

Link to the mbo if anyone's interested:

Thanks :)

To unbend mine, it took a bright desklamp, a flat steady surface, and a large, stout, knitting needle.
And a steady hand.

A picture of your particular board, please.

This was one of mine about a year ago:

I would too, however, I'd like to test it still. Will testing my cpu in a ruined socket like that possibly destroy my processor?

Should I try it out first or attempt to bend them back in place first and then try? I'm not sure that I'm too confident in not bending other pins in the process you see.

I'll give it a shot then :) Do you know of any way to test a motherboard and its functionality ?
