how to upgrade my internet

Right now I pay for Verizon DSL internet because thats all they have in my direct area, but Verizon FIOS is only 2 miles down the road. Is there a way I could call verizon and pay to get a line to my house?

Better yet get all your neighbors to also ask. If they have enough people they may decide they can make money and do it.

The big problem tends to be the city. They would have to run fiber closer to your house and some cities try to extort huge pay offs to get the ability to run fiber.

In general if you are willing to pay enough money pretty much anything can be done. I know the company I worked for had a large ISP extend a fiber to a building and it was less than 1 mile. It cost close to 2 million dollars with all the permits,charges and all the environmental studies you had to pay for.
