Is Something Wrong Here?

Hi guys

So I've just built this rig;

i7 7700k
GTX 1080Ti
16GB RAM
Asus z270-H MOBO
H100i v2 watercooling

So far the only game I have played has been Assassin's Creed Origins. Visually everything is running very smoothly, however I'm noticing some data that is concerning me a little bit. I've been using the Corsair Link software, as well as Intel Power Gadget 3.5 to gather this data.

Basically, when I'm at idle everything seems ok. CPU utility hovers at around 3% and the temperature hovers at around 35 degrees Celsius. Then I hop into AS: Origins, playing at 2K resolution on the ultra preset. The CPU utility then is basically maxed out, sitting at 95-100%. The CPU is also running hot (obviously) at around 80 degrees. meanwhile the gtx is keeping calm at 65 degrees.

Is there something wrong here? I'm no expert but I feel like my CPU should be running cooler on water. Could the high utility % be a side effect of the CPU not being cooled properly? I've checked on corsair link and it says that the pump is working at around 2000rpm but the air coming out the radiator doesn't seem too warm to me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The CPU also tends to have a big temperature spike every now and then.

This rig was build by myself a few days ago, it hasnt been overclocked but I believe the intel turbo boost has been enabled.

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

the 6 and 7 series chips, maybe the 8's as well, are known to run hot, they do this because of thermal paste under the heatplate.. if your CPU is maxxed at 90-100% the temps will rise, air or water.
IIRC the testing and reviews of the 7700k at full showed temps around 80C

I do not have hands on experience with that chip but the information I have is showing that is about normal.

So I just ran the intel processor diagnostic tool to test my CPU, it passed everything. What I find interesting is that when the tool performed the CPULoad test, my CPU was sitting at 100% load but the temperatures were 56 degrees? Why then does the CPU run so hot when I'm in game? :/

the floating point processing will heat up the unit. did that test stress the FPU?

Thanks R_1 for the answer, I've looked around and seem to find similar answers. I just want to make sure that there nothing wrong with my rig, you know?

I don't think that test stressed the FPU. How can I can about stressing the FPU?
