I have spent countless of hours searching for this issue but no one seems to have it. I'm using a PC that is wired and a laptop that is wireless. My you tube runs fine i can watch 1080, i can download without a problem but every 15 minutes to an hour i get ping spikes that last about 1-30 minutes in some cases and they are around 1000 ms and sometimes 2000. My usual ping is 66 ms, this is extremely annoying and I'm not sure but i think its my internet provider since my laptop gets the same thing.

I have had trouble with ping in the past and have had luck changing the DNS. Assuming you have not changed it in the past it will be set to automatically choose a DNS. You can, however, give Windows one to use. To do this (assuming Windows):
- go to control panel
- Network and Internet
- Network and Sharing Center
- Change Adapter Settings (in left bar)
- Right click on the connection you are using and hit properties
- Find "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", click it and select properties
- Select the bubble next to "Use the following DNS server addresses: "

To start, I would use Google's DNS which is 8.8.8.8
The DNS you use now is most likely set by your ISP and may be pretty bad.

I hope this solves some of your issues!

Thanks for trying, but the problem seems to be coming from an iphone. Apparently iPhone use up alot of ping, like a ridiculous amount of it, when watching you tube or even just browsing on the web. However you can test this by turning off your phone's wifi and seeing if your ping goes down.
