Big lag spikes from CPU temp rising quickly

When ever I play some games, I get these lag spikes that last anywhere from 2 - 10 seconds. Using AI Suite, I discovered my CPUs temp jumping from 80-90 degrees (Fahrenheit) to 140 degrees when ever I lag. I read that temp is normal for a short time but it seems to coincidental that I lag just as the temp rises. These spikes are some what infrequent, usually occuring every 5-10 mins. All help is appreciated :pt1cable:

Open Task Manager, Process tab, and look at % CPU useage. If a program is running in the background it will show up here. If the spike is momentary it may not be there by the time you get out of game, so, if you can, as soon as you get a spike, look at Task Manager and find out what program is taking up a lot of CPU usage %.

Keep Task Manager open on your desktop and simply use the keys Alt-Tab to quickly get back to desktop to see Task Manager.

Those temps are actually quite cool. Absolutely no issues with those temps at all and should not be causing any issues at all.

Do you have an overclock configured on your CPU?

Can you provide a parts list of what you're running?

I don't have overclock configured on my PC.
btw this didn't always happen. I have had this PC for about 1 1/2 years now and just noticed it recently.

Its odd that you're lagging right when you see your CPU spike. I wonder if its some other software on your computer actually causing it. Maybe an Anti virus app or something else running in the background? If you've got a 2nd display going, keep the "details" tab open and keep sorted by the CPU column, highest to lowest. During your lag times, see what specific process is spiking. If its not the game and its some other app, may need to look in to that.

Your temps are fine, you've got a powerful setup.

I have 3 monitors running, I will definitely do that. I don't have any anti virus software on my PC besides Windows Defender.

I think my issue is Discord. I noticed when playing by myslef(Discord closed) I got no lag spikes. I was talking to my friend (Discord open) I got some spikes and discord jumped up slightly in details in task manager. Thanks for the help!

edit: tbh I have no clue whats happening. Sometimes it lags sometimes it doesn't. I honestly have a awful PC. I turned my PC on and it said my secondary hard drive was gone. It turns on by itself and I recently did an ezupdate and it goofed up my PC. I would get a new one but I haven't had this one very long and I spent a lot to get it.
