USB 3.0 ports not working after installing drivers

Hi everyone, i just built my desktop PC a couple of weeks back and everything was working smoothly until this problem occurred.
The case front panel of the usb 3.0 cable was left unconnected when I built it. I plugged the front panel usb 3 cable to the motherboard one day and I reinstalled the Intel USB drivers from the manufacturers' site, as soon it was installing all of the USB ports were disabled including the keyboard and mouse.

I have tried plugging everything from the ports and none of them work. I even tried resetting the CMOS on the board, nothing effected. What's surprising is the BIOS doesn't recognise any trace of USB devices and simply says that only XHCI is available as a controller.
When I plug in a external hard-drive for example, it brights up fine but the computer still doesn't detect the device. I can still use the PS2 keyboard to navigate the computer. On the device manager only the intel USB 3.0 driver is shown as the controller, I'm able to point out the error code is code 10 and as this popped up, reinstalling the drivers manually didn't help.

Specs:
Gigabyte B250M-DS3h motherboard with Windows 10 and 7 x64
CPU: Intel i3-7100
RAM 8gb DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX
GPU: Zotac GTX1050 2GB
Bitfenix Neos for the case

Is there any suggestions on how to solve this? My PC is only 2 weeks old and it would be a massive shame if I'd need to replace the motherboard.

yes, I tried connecting as well on the front panel, it didn't work. what I can clarify is that the regular USB powers on for a milli second and acts like its switched off
