Current mobo is an MSI b85-g41 ATX. I plan to move all my current pieces over except for my cpu. New cpu will be an i5 7600k. It should be compatible and overclockable with this mobo.

Other pieces I plan to move over are 2x4gb 1333mhz Ram, 128 gb sdd, 1tb HD, NVidia gtx 970, corsair 500w psu, a wifi card and that's all.

Is there anything the community needs to help answer this question, such as pictures of my current rig? If so let me know.

Thanks for your time.

The memory you have no choice but to upgrade DDR3 will not work with that board it must be DDR4. (you could list your board processor and memory on Ebay or something to get a few bucks back}
For the memory I would try to get a 2X8GB set so you don't need to add more later if in budget either 3000 mhz or 3200 MHz for that board and processor.
For the cooler it...

OS is windows 10. Ram I guess I might as well upgrade.

Thing is I got the i5 7600k while on sale for $189. Couldn't pass it up at that price.

Any recommended cooler?

I run a I5-7600K@4.9 with a noctua NH-U12s.
Any cooler needs a good source of fresh intake air.
I would judge that two 120/140mm front intakes are good.
I only have a 180mm fan running at half speed.

As good as the noctua is, I can also recommend the scythe kotetsu for about $35.

How high you can oc is determined by your luck in getting a good chip.
If yours is new, and not a rejected bin, then here is what you can expect:
As of 6/19/17
What percent of samples can get an overclock
at a vcore around 1.4v.
I5-7600K
4.9 72%
5.0 52%
5.1 27%
5.2 16%
5.3 samples exist, unknown % of occurrence

For the cooler it depends on the case you have because it must fit in the case.
Good cooler that will fit in most cases.
145mm tall with no memory clearance issues. You can buy a better cooler if you have more room I would recommend any of the Cryorig coolers. The H7 will allow for a decent overclock.
