Building my first PC ever. Don't know which of the 4 slots to put my 2 memory sticks in!

I have a gigabyte B250M-DS3H mobo which has 4 open slots for memory, I only have two memory sticks. Now, do I put the 2 memory sticks in any of the slots I want to or should they be in 2 specific slots for them to work properly? I tried to search for this info in the manual, it's either not in there, or, I overlooked it. Please help, thank you.

  1. The motherboard manual will have instructions on which slots to use for 1, 2 or 4 DIMMs.
Paragraph 1-4 in the manual describes which slots to install memory.

    Checked manual,
    X - X -
    Or
    - X - X
Try it. X means ram, but work both ways.

    Thank you.
  4. Is it not as good if in the position:
    --XX

I ask because my R1 Ultimate cooler is so big that I need to either move the RAM in that position or I need to adjust the air flow to go up instead of out of the back of the case.
