Built new pc, however no Ethernet connection

So I just built a new pc today and everything is working fine except it wont connect to the internet. It has an MSI tomahawk z270 and the two lights on the back port are on. Ive tried switching out the cables and changing the port on my router. Do I need to buy a network adapter?

What does the icon on the taskbar say when it's connected?

Did you install the proper ethernet drivers?

Yes I ran the disk that I got with the motherboard and selected the lan driver to be installed.

Ok I just uninstalled the driver and reinstalled and it worked sorry if I wasted your guys time. I really do appreciate the fast response
