I need to swap my wireless network adapter to one that supports 5 gigahertz.

Solution
Powerline network adapters transmit the signal from your router/modem to your computer over the home's electrical system. Ideally both powerline adapters are installed on the same circuit, at least on the same breaker panel. In an apartment you don't really have much control over that probably. If you buy from someone like Amazon, if they don't work in your situation, you will be able to return them. In most cases powerline adapters will give you a better signal than WIFI, but less than direct ethernet connection to the router.

Just the wifi card, don't know why it put the tag build on the thread.

This is what I currently have... https://www.amazon.ca/ASUS-Wireless-N-Network-Adapter-PCE-N15/dp/B0053GR2YI?SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=duc12-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B0053GR2YI

So, I want to upgrade that one with a similar model that runs in the 5G spectrum.

I had it wired... but I can't have it wired any longer due to moving apt. If I could stay wired I would =( Thanks, for the suggestion, I'll take a look at it later and reply.

Also, how do powerline network adapters work?
