I'm looking to take a huge step in upgrading my rig. I don't want a beast of a computer, but I would love a runner up. I've been going back and forth with a friend on some suggestions on components but I feel like a lot of important information is also being left out. I want to spend at least $250-300 on each component, but I want to make sure I get the appropriate parts without any issues like bottlenecking or something over powering the other. I've put a lot of thought into upgrading.

My current rig:

  • GeForce GTX 750 ti
    AMD 6300 FX 6-core processors 3.5 hz 8GB CPU
Asus P8H61-M AM3+ or (LGA 1155 socket) motherboard
    EVGA 500W psu

Components I've been researching:

  • EVGA GeForce 1060 SC, 6GB GDDR5 graphics card
Intel i5 3450 Ivy Bridge Quad core 3.1 hz (3.5hz Turbo) cpu *or even higher if safe.*
ASUS ROG Strix XG27VQ 27” Curved Full HD 1080p 144Hz DP monitor.

Id extremely appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or tell me if I would have a problem somewhere. Thank you so much.

Your PSU is probably W1, not very good. This setup should achieve your goal and should last very long for its 6 cores/ 12 threads:

I want to say my total budget on each component around $300, so probably around 7 or 8 hundred. I just want to make sure t runs smoothly with a 1060 graphics card and a 144 hz monitor.

Oh okay. I was thinking that might be the case too because my computer isn’t exactly a high end one. But I just want to be able to play on high settings and experience more than 70-80 frames at least once in my life. I want improved gameplay and my cpu to not get overwhelmed when I play and stream. Would it be better for me to just go with Ryzen 1600?
