Hi all,

recently bought the 8700k and managed to get it to the 5ghz following a youtube guide and i have not had any crashes of any kind but I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the temps im getting and are they normal and safe.

on idle - 33-43c
on load - 65-75c

on various of games and bench marks

using coolermaster master air.

Do you think I could push this even further to 5.1 or even 5.2ghz if so would there be any major benefit vs performance?

thanks all,

PC specs

Gigabyte Z370 Gamer 5
GTX 1080 overclocked 2011ghz (don't quote me on that, as not at the PC)
16GB DDR 3200Mhz
Intel 8700k 5ghz (Not been delidded)

Your Physics score is really what your CPU has handled during the test, and the Graphics score is the full value of what the Graphics card did, exactly how Futuremark decides on an overall score, I don't know either. But my curiosity was regarding what overall processing difference the 6 core 8700K was bringing to the table.

Personally, I would stick with that OC at those temps. I'm currently running mine at just over 5.2GHz and I really don't notice a difference over the 5.0 OC. Don't get wrong, the benchmark scores are higher but the actual perceived difference is unnoticeable. If you absolutely feel the need to run at 5.2 the you need to de-lid. My temps are about the same as yours right now.

I am not going to lie, I can never understand the results you get from 3Dmark benchmarks if they are ever good or not. May I ask how you understand them?

You are in excellent shape! Save your Overclock Profile from the BIOS to a USB drive for future use.

I am just behind your 3DMark score. My 8700K runs a little hot at 5.1GHz but the Noctua D15 keeps bringing it back to 70-75c when it starts hitting 80-83c under load. Idle is 35 to 45c. Just a couple cores will hit 80ish during gaming for a split second.
