Compatible Replacement Hard drive for HP Notebook - 15 - F211WM

I have a question about compatible replacement internal hard drives for my HP Notebook 15-F211WM. The below models were suggested by HP support representative, they said only these should be used?

778190-001 - 750GB SATA hard disk drive
669299-001 - 500GB SATA hard disk drive.

I would like to know if there are other compatible hard drives for this laptop model and what would be the impact if i do not use the above suggested hard drive models?

Does the speed 5400 vs 7200 make a difference? This laptop came with 5400 rpm hard drive.

Electronically, all hard drives are pretty much the same, and are universally compatible, so any old 2.5" hard drive will work. The only real consideration is drive thickness. Some laptops use a "thin" or "slim" drive which has a smaller than normal thickness, but I don't think that actually applies to that particular laptop anyway.

The difference between the 5400 and 7200 is a slight increase in speed but with that comes additional heat as well. Have you considered replacing the drive with an SSD instead of a mechanical drive? Using a drive other than the ones HP suggested should not have a negative impact on the performance of the laptop.

@kenrivers - Thank you for the response. I am looking for a low cost regular internal hard drive instead of SSD, as i don't really feel the need for one. Any suggestions on the the compatible regular internal hard drives that i can choose for my laptop?

Like JaredDM mentioned about any 2.5" drive should work. Just make sure the height is right. You can take the one you have out and measure the height to make sure it is compatible. Most drives will have the height listed in the specs.

Also, as to what brand you buy, I'd highly recommend you stick with HGST or Toshiba brand hard drives. Avoid Seagate drives unless you feel like replacing it every six months.
