Hello,

Firstly I'm a complete beginner when it comes to building computers. I've taken them apart and replaced components but I've never built one myself from scratch. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, RAM and Motherboard but I'm looking for some guidance regarding the compatibility of each component.

The only part I've ordered and got ready to fit at the moment is the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Desktop CPU - AM4/Hex Core/GHz/16MB/65W.

Am I right in thinking I'll need a motherboard with an AM4 slot and also one that supports DDR4? (as I'll be upgrading from DDR3). Is there anything else I need to consider when looking for a motherboard or is it just the compatibility with the RAM and CPU? Will I have to consider power supply at all?

Thanks in advance for the help and guidance.

*EDIT* I've been looking at this motherboard in particular. (I'm on a bit of a budget so I'm avoiding stuff that's expensive. https://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-prime-b350-plus-amd-b350-s-am4-ddr4-sata3-m2-pcie-sata-2-way-crossfire-realtek-lan-usb-31-a-atx

Solution
The ASUS PRIME B350 PLUS would be a perfectly good motherboard for the Ryzen 5 1600. You did not say which power supply you have, but i think you should be able to use what ever model you already have. As for the DDR4 ram, Asus supplies a Memory compatibility list on their website, if your worried about that.
