Sadly i use wireless connection on my desktop gaming pc. But before a week ago ive been on my 2.4G channel with 90% signal strength cause my 5G channel had poor signal and i knew 5G was so much better. But then for the last week i saw that the 5G channel had amazing signal and i switched to that and had the best connection ever and so much more download and upload. i was soo happy and impressed. So for about a week i had this then yesterday i had a power outage in town and messed up my signal for 5G Channel on my router. so i had to go back to 2.4g channel and so upset.

So how is that even possible? Please help. Is it just i got lucky for a week then poof my luck is gone or can i get that back? im aware that 5G channel you gotta be close to it as much as possible cause it doesnt have much range as 2.4ghz. But nothing has changed and im not even that far from the router.

Consider interference.

Your 5G channel may have had some form of interference. Then the interference went away for awhile. Someone may have switched to another channel or even 2.4G.

Did not work and they returned to the 5G channel and the interference came back. Or they just were away for awhile and shut down their wireless.

Might be worth downloading and testing a couple of the wireless network testers that capture and display active the wireless frequencies and channels in your area.

See if you can get some high gain wifi antennas. It sounds like you're computer is at the cusp of where it can get a good signal. Wifi signals bounce to find their targets and don't necessarily take a straight line. They are slaves to some impressive feats of physics and hard to predict :)

I had my neighbors wifi show up at full strength in my basement last week for a few minutes.
