Building a really cheap entry level Ryzen 5 rig. Just picked up a $30 motherboard - it has no m.2 ports. Wondering if it is worth still buying an m.2 stick with a pci-e adaptor, if there will still be a significant speed benefit? Also I am trying to set a record for my most inexpensive pc build yet - off to a good start getting the case, memory, and board so far half off through newegg before it all sold out. If anyone has any further economy ideas in regards to storage recommendations -always used sata ssds - I will be using this rig for basic internet and Destiny 2. Would a hybrid drive be cheaper or a good idea, or are there better more economic options? Not really concerned with the need for a lot of storage - cheap fast smaller drives are preferable.

You will never notice the difference between an m.2 [NVMe] stick mounted on a pci-e adapter and a decent Sata SSD plugged into an ordinary Sata port. NVMe SSD's are still very expensive compared to Sata SSD's and you would rarely ever have a use for the extra performance it offers.

As for the hybrid drive option, you answered your own question.
