Is a Freesync monitor a good choice?

So I have a GTX 970 from EVGA (Double Bios version) and I moved into my new place, only to find out my "ol' reliable" samsung 1080p vga lcd was scratched sometime during the move. I want to get a new monitor, but I'm not sure what kind of monitor to go for, though I found a 1080p 144Hz AOC with FreeSync that looks good. But...I don't know anything about FreeSync, but I've heard ghosting is bad on some older FreeSync monitors. I'm also unsure of the resolution I should use (1080p, 1440p, 4k, etc) so I was hoping for some advice? Thanks in advance!

Solution
Ur gpu is Nvidia which uses g sync. Freesync would avail u no benefits. Nothing wrong in getting that, but it's not the right choice. The Asus one also got ULMB.

I figured as much, but what about the FreeSync? Is something like this a good deal or should I steer clear of FreeSync?

Freesync does absolutely nothing without an AMD card. However it adds next to nothing to the price so you can use the monitor now without it but have the feature just in case you get an AMD card someday.

The nVidia equivalent is G-sync and monitors with it cost about $200 more.
