Hello,

I've had an Acer Aspire 5735z-4774 laptop since 2008ish. I've been using it for more and more virtualization tasks like virtualbox only for small projects like servers or firewalls nothing huge.

The amount of ram isn't an issue but my cpu is an intel pentium T3200 and since it doesn't support intel-vt it's getting harder to run oses in virtualbox not to mention emulate 64 bit oses.

Is it possible to upgrade the cpu from the intel pentium T3200 to the intel core 2 duo T9900 which supports intel-vt?

According to this chart I believe they are both socket p but I wanted to double check and get a second opinion.

It's at the very bottom of the page.

My reasoning is a used $45.00 cpu off ebay is cheaper then a $250.00 windows 10 laptop.

Thank you for your time.

I got it working with an upgrade to an Intel core 2 duo T7250 dual core running at 2ghz. Replaced my Intel Pentium T3200. Now I have the ability to run 64 bit guest in virtualbox with full hardware virtualization support all for $4 including shipping from ebay. First laptop I've had that the cpu sticker lies lol.

No you cant upgrade the laptop CPU there are soo many limitations and there are chances that the CPU is soldered to the board your best bet is contact the Acer support and ask them if its possible or not
even if yes then to which model exactly it supports
