Hi guys.

I don't understand why I can't get any higher than 100mbps using my powerline adapters. Originally I used the Tp link 600, but after a little bit of research on P/Adapters I then knew this was impossible. I ended up buying the Zyxel pla5405 1200 gigabit Ethernet port adapter and thinking problem solved. Nope, still can't get past 100mbps.
Ok I've directly hooked my pc up to my router hitting 248mbps, so it's not my pc or the router ports.
I'm using cat6a sftp (1m) from router to first P/Adapter and cat5e utp from P/Adapter to pc. My pc is only 4m away in the same room. Thanks guys.

Solution
Ok problem solved!

I tried both power adapters on the same power strip without surge protection and no difference. Alslo tried and tested all cables which are fine.
So here I am scratching my head, getting frustrated when I decided to try a different ethernet port on my router. I started up SpeedTest and...236mbps. I have 4 ports on router and it's only port 2 that won't go higher than 95mbps, but it will with a direct ethernet cable to my pc. After moving everything back I get a average speed of 160mbps. I guess To be honest I don't know whether to feel stupid or puzzled.
Thanks guys for all your advice it really helped me out. Cheers :)

It would be strange if it was exactly 100mbps. If you are getting in the 90mbps range I would suspect a bad cable. Cables can be very strange sometime and work in some equipment but not all...for example it may work directly between your PC and your router but not between the router and the powerline. Hopefully this is what the problem is because there is not much else you can change.

Even though they say to not put them into powerstrips one of the best tests is to plug both powerline units into the same powerstrip. Be sure it is a simple one not one with surge protection. This will allow you to test the units without your house wiring having a impact.

Still there are no settings on these units so even if they work better in a power strip that really does not solve your real issue. You could try other outlets is you only option really.

So first question is if PC is in same room as router then why on earth are you using powerline adapter for?

Sounds like an auto-negotiation issue.

Go to adapter settings on your PC and right click on your adapter and select status and see if it reads as 100 or 1000mbps

Yer I'll give that a try now bill001g and I'll swap a few cables too, since I have a few cat5e laying around. My speed is always 94-95mbps and also the house has been completely re-wired in this year which is plus.

Well boosted1g I wouldn't have a problem having an ethernet cable running across the floor or skirting, but unfornately my girlfriend would kick my arse. Correct me if I'm wrong here: I've been into Network adapter settings/Advanced/Link Speed & Duplex and the value is set to 1.0Gbps Full Duplex. Not sure if any other values need adjusting.

Big thanks for you advice guys and I'll get back to after testing. Cheers
