Need help choosing a motherboard!!

I'm new to building and I need help choosing a right motherboard for me. I'm trying to build a high end powerful gaming computer. Can someone tell me the main differences between these two motherboards? I really like the look of them both and their lighting.
Also, since their are a ton load of motherboards to choose from, what are the main things I should be looking out for when choosing a motherboard?

Build with an 8700k and get the ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero.

Z270 board doesn't support Coffee Lake
