Air Cooler for i7-8700k - Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 sufficient for moderate overclock?

I am building a new gaming system. I would like to go with an air cooler (more silent, less worry in regards to failures). My built will be without an optical drive bay. So I will have a fan sucking in air right in front of the cooler and another blow it out right behind without any obstructions. I am planning to overclock the 8700k to about 4.7 or 4.8Ghz on all 6 cores.

Would a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 sufficient to make the above described work? Due to size and weight I prefer it over the Dark Rock 3 Pro or the Noctua NH15. Test show only a 1 to 2 degrees difference between the Dark Rock 3 and the Pro.

What are your thoughts? Again, I am not trying to overclock my CPU to the limit.

At that point it's really up to you. 140 does more airflow but 3x120 do more airflow than 2x140.
Again, you're not going to go wrong either way so pick whatever deal you can get on whatever brand you're set on getting. There are often discounts, black friday is coming up, so see what you can shop around for a good price.
what about the Cooler Master Air Maker 8 CPU cooler its the best air cooler i have see i know its kind of overpriced but still does the perfect job i am using it myself
was using the AIO cooler H100i V2 Previosly abut after a lots of failure with the AIO i decided to stick with the Air cooler and i wont feel any difference

no, I want something smaller and lighter. for that price and size I can also get the Noctua NH15.

The case is a Corsair 400C, 1 GPU (I usually go with the MSI GTX xx70 Gaming, 1070 for now). Fans I can do 3x140 front or 2x 160 front, 1x140 back, and up to 2x 160 on top (but I think all those fans would be overkill).

Right now I am cooling my 2500k with Corsair H60. But I would like to go away from the all in one water coolings because they get pretty loud over time. Also, pumps can fail, air coolers last problably better.

3x140 front and 1x140 back would be probably more than enough and 1070 isn't too hot a card. You should be good with dark rock 3, and if you don't like your temps at any point, you can always add a few fans on top, and decrease the temps a few additional degrees. Good video on this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OmkmluAYAQ

Get front fans that have higher top rpm than like 1000. Get 1500 max at least, so that if you start heating up on overclock+gaming session, you can sacrifice a bit of quiet for a few degrees extra cooling.

Sorry, my mistake. I can either do 2x140 or 3x120. Same questions....which would be better and or more silent?
