i have two hard drive installed in my hp 8300 sff.
one is 40g seagate hdd for main c drive
and second is 250gb wd green hdd.

Sure 250gb wd green was main c and non stop download for torrents n rest for D, and when the PC dead, i was able to transfer to another backup hard drive without any issue using another pc.
Didn used it for 2 years but kept it in the static cover that it came in, so no dust got in.

and now when i got a pc for it, when i installed the hard drive it had ticking, and clicking and didnt recognized in bios or windows. after many try it started to show in windows sometimes, but later when i decide to check in device management, it had another name and after few click and tick , the name changed and i got it working. I first transfer the important files again and had no issue. but ticking and clicking was back when i restarted it, and it vanish from bios, and windows but after a while it came back.

i tested in cmd through chkdsk E: /f /r , hdtune , speed fan seems all fine expect the airflow temp.
will upload them if u can guide me where.

i just transferred all the files again to external file without any issue and the speed was normall as well in 10-25mb.
going to format soon though.

the Temp on my seagate 40gb which is main c drive and i use it for words, streaming tv shows online, and other stuff and hdd temp dont go over 38-41
but the wd 250gb green one is non stop at 41-43 temp. and for over an hour im not even using it and still it is in this range nonstop. and i have kept it outside upside down so that the fan wind can come on it directly.

how to get it down?

As i would like to use it for main C in this pc and keep 40gb as spare one.

no fan is from the ceiling.
i have put the hard drive upside down on the top case of the desktop.

and where does the airflow goes in the hard drive maybe i can check if dust is blocking or not?

HP 8300 SFF has rather small case and it's pretty crammed. Not much room for decent airflow.
I'd suggest getting a bigger case, is you're serious about lowering component temperatures.

i will try imgur and post the link soon.
you right about the space, but two hard drive can come in easily.
not using for gaming of any kind so it is fine. i will try to see if i can instead an external fan from outside and throw the air in.
cant keep the cover open .. while the other dont have this issue.

my processor is i3-3210 and have 4gb single stick kingston.
enough for my usage.

You keep referring to your wd 250gb green drive as a "hard drive". But isn't that drive a SSD?

Assuming it is, a non-operating temperature of 43C (or a lot higher!) isn't high at all. It's well within specifications, isn't it? What makes you think it's too hot?

no it is hard drive. the pictures is posted in the link provided.
the reason is my main c drive is also hard drive not ssd and that is 38-40 non stop even with watching a tv shows on streaming, and having many tab on. including this.

Right now the ideal hdd of 250gb wd hdd is at 43 degree and the main c drive is at 39 degree

I only have the main hard drive install, as i mentioned. i havnt turned the dvdrw on at the moment.
so im using 2 hard drive both regular one and not ssd.

i have 40gb hdd under the dvdrw at the moment, and i planned to instead this 250gb under the power supply.
i dont have any gpu or any card installed.

Im connected through lan cable, two usb port are using for keyboard and mouse (both regular not a gaming keyboard or gaming mouse), one vga monitor, but will replace with led monitor with hdmi port through display port adaptor.
im using i3-3210 processor with it.

i understand that but the hard drive is on top as seem in the pictures. and still it said the airflow issue.

also, strangely, today i started the pc, i heard some clicking noise, and saw the both partition at first in the windows , and it loading stop , my both partition for that drive vanished again?
i didnt had any issue till i closed the pc late night

i know its old. but my 40gb seagate is as old as my 250gb, and no issue in that.
second, i cant change the casing or anything. as it is branded pc and normally these branded pc motherboard cant be fitting properly in regular casing due to the screw slot, as i being told.
fan i agree i will take to the shop and since im not using gpu card maybe i get one fan install by wires holding it.

maybe the impossible will be availability in my city...as spending so much for just casing and psu isnt worth it....
i could just buy another refurnished pc or go for built own pc....

thanks though, but for now its seems my drive gone rouge after restarting again....
maybe it is the circuit board that giving me these issue.....
i will try to get it replace it and then see.
as i really cant even use the hard drive until it recognized again from
wdc rom model hawk.... as that what i get whenever i restart... and once somehow when it get working properly, then i have no issue with the drive at all.... expect the airflow temp

yup i did, but i thinking its needs to be heat up ... maybe, as i have it on for past 11 hours now and no issues at all expect , i get windows warning that my memory is low, so close down. three times so far today....
i have 4gb ram single stick..

and right now im downloading on that hard drive using torrent, and going to watch the videos too for testing. the temp is around 37-45 now :) happy it is down to 37 on speedfan and hd sentinel. but still saying air flow failed in hd tune.
