Computer randomly restarting + CPU overheating

APC - BR1500G UPS (recently purchased as I thought my problem was from the wall outlet)

I've done no overclocking, everything is set to default/auto.

My computer has been randomly restarting for a while now, sometimes while gaming, watching twitch, or just browsing the internet. I can not for the life of me pinpoint the cause, how ever recently I've noticed my CPU is reaching 100c under heavy loads such as rendering videos. CPU also reaches 80c+ quickly while gaming. Idle 35c-40c. Room temperature 22c

I've tried replacing the thermal paste on my liquid cooler several times with varying methods and quantities. I later replaced the liquid cooler with the stock cooler, temperatures did not change.

BIOS are up to date, I've cleared cmos and reset everything to default.

I've used a program called WhoCrashed to check for drivers that crashed, it produced no results.
"Crash dumps are enabled but no valid crash dumps have been found"
All drivers are up to date.

Event viewer gives a bugcheck code 0 for kernal power (event id 41)(task category 63). The error before this one isn't always the same so I don't think it has any correlation. I'll add them if anyone thinks it necessary to trace my problem.

I've disabled Automatically Restart in Startup and Recovery, I'm not getting blue screen crashes even after changing this option.

I've run Windows Memory Diagnostics to check the memory, it produced no results.

I've contacted Intel support, after running their Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool they told me the CPU is fine and I should contact support for my motherboard, so I did. I'm still contacting them but so far nothing has produced any results.


Most of the solutions I've tried has come from google pointing me to this forum so I thought I'd post. I've never had so much technological frustration, I'm completely stumped at this point. Any more solutions would be greatly appreciated, any solutions that actually work would be a godsend at this point.

Zemana detected a host high jack and 2 adwares, it cleaned them all up. thats both embarrassing and frustrating as avast has failed me again. Never seen any signs of adware though, strange.
Malwarebytes detected nothing.

yes 2801, I updated it recently, to clarify you want me to reinstall it?
Edit: I've reinstalled 2801

I've never really touched the bios but I'll see if i can set the memory to 1600mhz
Also edit: I changed memory to 1600mhz. No change in temps.

250gb drive was out dated, both are now up to date and status is good

clearing cmos by jumper is taking the little plastic piece and moving it from pin 1-2 to 2-3 and then back to pin 1-2 yes? If so I've already done that, happily do it again though.

So while idling your temps stay normal? Those temps are way to high. At 90 + degrees Celsius your defiantly starting to thermal throttle and at 100 C and up id think the cpu would shut down to protect itself. You say you have a liquid cooler so I assume its an AIO. My first thought is that your pump is dead or dying. If your radiator is clogged enough it will also cause these problems.

H100i GTX, all in one cooler yes, However as mentioned in the original post I swapped it out for the stock fan and temperatures did not change, I know the stock fan is bad but if the liquid cooler was at fault it should of made some difference, right?



Is there a definitive way to test if the PSU is faulty, besides switching it out of course? I defiantly didn't hit the power/reset button as its physically out of reach, as are the PSU cables.

Oh my bad man I didn't see that in the OP. That's weird. I know you said you have not overclocked, But what's your voltage at? Maybe something abnormal happened in the BIOS.

was windows installed with this motherboard and CPU?

chipset drivers and intel management engine up to date ?

run intel processor diagnostics tool

which thermal paste are you using?

are you 100% sure the cooler block is installed correctly and sits plane on the CPU?

which case are you using?

Chipset 10.1.1.7, I have no idea how to check management engine version or update it

IDPT test passed.

Arctic Silver 5 or the stock fan paste, I've used both, not at the same time mind you, thoroughly cleaned the CPU each time I attempted to replace the paste.

I'm 100% sure the liquid cooler was connecting with the CPU as each time I took it off the plate had paste on it, and the paste was spread along the CPU. I'm having another liquid cooler arrive tomorrow, I'll be using the paste it comes with, if it doesn't come pre-applied I'll be using Arctic Silver 5 again.

Do you believe its a software issue? I would have no qualms about doing a clean install of windows and reinstalling all the latest drivers and such.





I am aware, Zemana and Malwarebytes were only recently installed at the request of some one earlier in the thread to check for miners, I'll be uninstalling Zemana and Malwarebytes. Avast too when I find a suitable replacement.

46c after doing nothing in the bios for 10 mins

I checked the pins on the motherboard, there is one thing in the middle that stands out, the 9 by 3 things that are gold like, one in the middle at the top is black. I'm not sure how to explain it, I took some pictures though.
