Question About the warranty of my graphics card.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this voids the warranty on my graphics card. So my graphics card https://www.evga.com/Products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=3cdfab4c-0eab-44b7-8f32-2a6780a37c4b was damaged along with my power supply.

I don't know exactly what caused the damage but I tested my power supply and got no response. I was able to get into my computer using a different graphics card (my friends) and it worked just fine but when I use my graphics card it doesn't work.

The warranty is still active on my graphics card but not sure if evga will cover it. Im not entirely sure what caused the damage because I was not messing with my system I was just playing games.

Without knowing what caused the damage (if any), it's impossible to say if your warranty would stand, but EVGA are generally pretty good.

3 Year warranty period though, so I'd reach out to EVGA.

Any damages to the components, hardware and/or assembly of the graphics card including neglect, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress.

Defects or damage resulting from the use of a 3rd party product in conjunction or connection with accessories, products, software or secondary peripheral equipment not furnished for the usage with or approved for the Graphics Card by EVGA CORPORATION.

Could we better define these 2 points on the warranty ? Kinda confused about what they say. Thanks

If the PSU did dmg the GPU that should void the warranty right ?

Was your PSU that failed a high-quality unit? If so, it would have built in protection features that would prevent the PSU from damaging other components if it failed. If it was a low-quality PSU, then it probably didn't have any protective circuitry. About all you can do is contact EVGA and see what they say.

Warranties are purposely worded a little vague.

Basically they say if you do anything unreasonable to it, outside of "normal" uses of a GPU and it gets damaged - they're not covering it (understandably).
Also, if a third part (non-EVGA) product causes the damage; questionable PSU etc - they're not covering it (again, understandably).


As I said though, EVGA are usually pretty good - they'll even honor a warranty on a card that's been disassembled (for cleaning, or water cooling etc) - something that a lot of other manufacturer's fight against.


IF the PSU did the damage *AND IT CAN BE PROVEN* then yes, I would interpret that it would void your warranty.
^^That;'s the kicker though.... EVGA would need to prove that a third-party component (PSU in this case) caused the damage.

I would not say so. Generally, warranty is void if there is user fault somewhere. For example, when you connect power to GPU upside-down. Or use PSU that is not supposed to work with GPU.Or you break PCB during card installation. If you did not any of such things, warranty should apply.
Of course, in the end, it is all up to manufacturer, how they will react. But it is certainly worth trying.

All that happened was I was playing games and my computer turned off. I tested the power supply and it didnt work and neither does the GPU, so technically it still should be covered.

I contacted EVGA and talked to a rep and he said that they would cover it and I just explained to them what happened. Thanks everyones help.

The rep can't guarantee that; but it's a good sign.
Until they have the card in their possession and can review, they simply cannot confirm that you're covered.

True, true, but its still good to hear that they would over it. I'll send the broken card in and see what they do.
