M.2 drive is set as Boot drive & Local drive (C:). Can/should i change my Local drive to my HDD?

I currently have a Samsung EVO 960 250GB M.2 drive set as my Boot and Local drive. I've had my new pc running for a couple of weeks now and I've already download some files and programs onto the Local drive (C).

So my question is, can i move all the files and programs to my HDD (D) and set that to my Local drive (C)? i want files to download straight into my HDD and keep my M.2 clean.

F.Y.I., I also have a (E) drive that is mainly used to store games from steam/oculus on. I don't know if that's pertinent information, but I thought I should just throw that in there.

I can't understand why you would want to do that jp4254?

Your best boot drive is your M.2 which is considerably faster than any HDD and the best drive to have your OS.
Any programs and downloads can be transferred or directed to either the HDD or (E) drive as you mentioned. Yes certain programmes need to be installed correctly on the drive you wish to use for registry entries which is done at time of installation.
Windows takes up approx 22GB so there is still plenty of room for more content and no real need to keep it clean as you put it.
