RAM clock speed purchasing question

I am confused a little by RAM clock speeds and compatibility.

My build is an i7-8700 on an Asus z370 TUF Gaming board (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/TUF-Z370-PRO-GAMING/)
I have no plan to overclock the cpu (obviously) or the RAM

The motherboard website lists RAM clock speeds of 2133, 2400, 2666, then 2800OC and beyond. I am assuming the OC stands for speeds when overclocking the memory.

My question: NewEgg is offering the following RAM, and I am wondering if it would work in my build, or shall I only look at RAM that does not exceed the 2666? Would it work, but not at speeds above 2666?

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GVRB for $159

Thanks!

2666 is sweet spot for Intel and you can go for more if extra cost is little. Check motherboard website for their QVL list, the memory up there have been tested to reach beyond 2666. If you buy those 3000+ on the list, you just need to set the settings or use XMP to reach 3000+. It is more like correct settings instead of OC, just the procedure is similar to CPU OC. Real OC is you buy 2666 ram but mess up with settings to make it run 3000+. Ripsaw is pretty good, it is not on my MB QVL list but I am running 3200 unit at 3200 without problems.

As said above, 2666 MHz is the rated memory speed for coffee lake CPUs, hence anything faster being labelled OC. But even for OC memory, all you have to do is enable the XMP profile and it will work the vast majority of the time. Intel's memory controllers are pretty good, you should have no trouble running 3200 MHz RAM.
