I’m trying to decide on a build based either on the 1600x or i5 8600k. I do plan to OC in the future. I also need WiFi and BT, so I chose the Taichi for features. This will be the center of our family room - it will be a multimedia center and gaming system - hopefully future resistant. My main concern is RAM compatibility and cooling (fan setup).

Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-bit Edition)
Phanteks Eclipse P400
RAIDMAX 120mm RGB Hydraulic bearing
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
Corsair Hydro Series H60 120mm (Push-Pull) WHITE Tt Riing 12 Series Case/Radiator Fans)
ASRock X370 Taichi
16GB (8GBx2) DDR2400 (GSKILL Trident Z RGB)
AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
650 Watts - Corsair RMi Series RM650i
250GB Samsung 850 EVO
1TB WD Blue SATA-III

Some have mail in rebates ~$50 (MB/PSU/OS), check them out, so you will end up less than 1600
1080 ti comes with 2 free games through Newegg, very good bonus

1. 1600X is not worth the money, 1600 comes with a stock cooler and can oc to pretty good level. Extra 0.2G from expensive cooling and mb is not worth the cost

2. Can you explain BT? You mean ethernet? For wireless, add a wireless card and it is usually better than integrated wifi on motherboard if there are any.

3. Fast ram for Intel but not Ryzen? It should be the opposite but both should require 2666+

4. PSU have better or same level but cheaper replacement.

How much is the cost on above 2 builds? Living in US? What monitor do you have?

1. Gotcha...I can do 1600 over 1600x
2.Bluetooth
3.I was fearful of compatibility issues with Ryzen cpu and I was confused by all the choices, so I went “safe.”
4. I would like to go cheaper on PSU...maybe semi modular?
5. Cost is about $1600 US dollars

I’m using just my Sony Bravia @ 240hz. I play mostly MMORPGS, and single player rpgs - Witcher, Mass Effect, TESO, some first person like Bioshock, Wolfenstein. If you think the lesser Asrock Killer board (has WiFi and BT) is better, I can save the $50 along with your recommendation of 1600! Thanks!
