Good day all,

I'm looking into the following for a friend that is not MAC savy; he recently purchased an LG 55" UHDTV (model LGUJ6200) and would like to play music from his iTunes librairies residing on his MAC a few rooms away, so wireless. On the MAC, wifi and Bluetooth are enabled, I can ping the TV from the MAC but cannot seem to make any further progress from there on ?

Summary;
- TV is on the home network so WiFi is enabled
- MAC can ping LG TV
- in the network menu on the MAC, there is no sign of the LG unit, be it IP, MAC address, etc...?
- MAC is about 4-5 years old, (if need be I can gather the model and OS version)
Tried to "share" the music folder on the MAC, to no avail...I just can't see the MAC from the LG tv in any form or fashion....

I thank anyone in advance for any tips or suggestions. It may take a day or two for any replies on my part, as my friend lives a few clicks from me. However if anything needs to be looked into on the MAC, then I'll remotely log in and see from there...

With best regards,
Serge

As I understand your post the objective is to wirelessly stream music from the MAC to the LG TV.

Airport express may be an option for you. Reference:

The key is looking at the output options from the MAC and the input options and configuration option available on the LG TV.

Basically the MAC transmitting and the TV receiving.

However, best of all from within this forum:

Thanks very much Ralston18, sorry for not getting back sooner on this as I was on a business trip.

I will look at the info you provided and see where that takes me, an update will follow right after I've looked into your suggestion.

Best regards.
