Resolution issue of nVidia DSR

My monitor has native res of 1600x900.
I had a AMD Radeon R7 260x in which i turned on Virtual Super Resolution. I used to set my monitor res at 1080p and used to play games at 1080p too without a hitch.

Now i have upgraded to GTX 1060 6GB. Turned on DSR, which i understand to be equivalent to VSR of AMD. But whenever i set monitor's / game's res anything higher than native, i get "OUT OF RANGE"

Any fix to this?

I have tried all of that. In 5 different games.

Now apparently DSR works when I run the games in borderless fullscreen. For me at least. Going only fullscreen gets me OUT OF RANGE.

I guess i have to be content with that. Thank you for the help.

**** EDIT : Can display input affect this? My monitor is connected via a VGA to VGA cable. One end of which has a VGA to HDMI converter attached > which connects to my card.
