So when i first built my PC i had got a 750GB HDD thinking that that would be enough. Now, about a year later, my HDD is pretty much as full as I'd like to get it.

Im considering on buying an SSD because I've been told that an SSD can help improve speeds in an older PC.

My Steam install directory folder is like 432GB and there is probably about another atleast 20-30GB of games not from steam.

Would it be better to get an SSD only big enough for my OS or should i get one big enough to fit my games on as well?? Also would it be possible to clone my current OS install as is onto the SSD or would i be better off doing a fresh install??

Solution
SSD is quite new :) It showed up early but really expensive, the real SATA based SSD came out 2009 and super expensive, so no one uses. Now it is getting cheaper and cheaper, so many start to use it.

Yeah i figured only installing the OS on the SSD wouldn't be worth it. I guess i could uninstall some of my steam games. Just my only problem with that is i like having all my games installed. Gives me a large variety to choose from when i get bored of one game. And re-downloading a game isn't as simple as just re-downloading it to play it. My internet is kinda slow and i only have 50GB of data a month

That's what i was thinking too. They get kinda pricey but i feel it'll be worth it. Just wanted another opinion on the matter seeing as I'm not the most knowledgeable about this kinda stuff. Like i didn't even know SSDs were a thing until like a couple years ago. And now there is M.2 and DIMM.2 memory. Im still stuck on LGA775 platform at the moment
