Pc starts for 1s then it turns off. And it repeats.

What the title says. Oredered 2nd hand, yes i know im gambling. Ive built the system and it looked ok until i tried to turn it on. Though its the power supply but i changed it with mine which is working for sure... at the end i found the problem and it' the cpu power connector i guess. If all components except the cpu are plugged in, fans are spinning without stopping but as soon as i connect the cpu power it starts to turn on and off.
Specs:
Mb: gigabite ga-p35-ds3p
Cpu: intel 2 duo E2200 (waiting for a xeon to arrive)
Ram: 1gb ddr2 800 mhz
Psu: 500w cooler master 80+ gols certified
Gpu: rx 560 msi aero
Cpu cooler: zalman
Hdd 500 gb

I had an ASUS board do that and after testing everything (and I mean changing all other part attached to the motherboard I pulled it out from case and it ran, what the issue I found afterwards was one of the mounting screw was touching an exposed (scratch on board) and causing a short. I put a piece of tape over the scratch and screwed it back down..... been using the same board for 4 years...

check around the mounting screws (top and bottom of the motherboard.) So take it out of the case and lay it on a box, and see if it starts properly. otherwise without error bells or codes, you will have to try to see what could be causing the issue. from ram, video card, cpu itself , usb headers etc.

I would start with pulling the video card off the motherboard and see if it will start with internal video card.

Ok just tried it. Removed the mb from the case, layed it on cardboard - same result. Unplugged everything besides power and its still acting odd. Its the cpu connector as far as i can see but if its broken in some way il have to find a new mb.. still looking for sugestions

Yea i tested the cpu in another motherboard, im running 1.1 and its compatible. Anyway i figured it out - when the bracket pushes down the cpu it creates a short.. if i put the cpu without closing the bracket it works like normal. But that aint ideal because without it being pushed i cant put a coooler on it. Sny ideas what can be causing this short??

Well i was looking at them for 10 minutes and i couldnt find a problem, but the fact stays - there is a problem... only solution is to put the cooler lose on top, without screwing much and hope i get decent thermals, which obviously wont happen
