I have been hunting around the forums and interwebs but can't seem to find my exact question - if this is a duplicate, I can't find the original, please link it.
Here's the thing:
We just got a new Netgear AC1200 router for the AC benefit for Fiber, and to replace our old Netgear DGN2200v4.
I want to still use the old Netgear and daisy chain the routers so that I can have the new Netgear as the main one in the center of the house and use the old Netgear in the TV room, connected via a long LAN cable. However, I want to plug the Smart TV and Playstation into the old router with a LAN cable, but also have its WiFi network available as a separate access point name.
The old Netgear doesn't seem to have repeating functionality (although I believe this does not boost using an internet line in, it just picks up the WiFi and repeats it, which is not what I want, and I still want to be able to use the LAN ports on the old router). I have also tried the solution here, where DHCP is disabled and the old router is locked to its own IP address - but can't seem to get any internet from it, with cable or with wireless. Not sure if I am just doing something stupid here.
Any help or ideas as to how to tackle this would be greatly appreciated, or pointers to the right sources would also be great.
